About Arugam Bay
Arugam Bay runs on a different clock to the rest of the island — its surf season peaks exactly when the south-west coast is in monsoon, which is why serious surfers build their whole Sri Lanka trip around it. Main Point is the headline right-hand break, long and forgiving by international standards, with gentler spots nearby for beginners. Outside the water, it's a genuinely laid-back single-street town, with day trips out to Kumana bird sanctuary and Pottuvil Lagoon.
